Virtual Public Input Session: Special Event Ordinance Change
The City of Sarasota Office of Special Events is proposing important updates to our Special Event Ordinance, and we invite you to join us for a virtual public input session to learn more and provide feedback.
This session will cover key proposed changes, including:
- Adding and modifying defined terms for event organizer, permitted areas, special event, and recurring special event.
- Updating the permit application process.
- Modifying the standards the City uses to approve or deny a special event permit.
- Adding requirements for special events that will be more than 96 hours.
- Adding a litter removal/cleaning requirement.
- Codifying the security deposit, insurance, and indemnification requirement.
- Adding a nonprofit status requirement.
- Updating the Right-of-way usage permits for special events.
- Updating the Commercial Vending Permit process.
- Modifying the City Co-Sponsored Special Event process.
