About the Cultural Heritage Exhibits

The City Hall Cultural Exhibit was created to celebrate the city’s many cultural legacies including the genres of visual arts, circus arts, architecture, ethnic groups, tourism, and historical documentation. The intent of the exhibit is to beautify Sarasota’s historic City Hall atrium and the SRQ Media Studio in the City Hall Annex building while informing the city’s citizens and visitors of Sarasota’s rich history in the arts and culture.

The City of Sarasota Cultural Heritage Exhibits provide a museum-quality experience that is free and open to the public focusing on the visual arts and historical documentation, including paintings and photographs, of Sarasota's cultural heritage and legacy.

The exhibitions are conceptualized and overseen by the Office of Public Art and Historic Preservation Division in partnership with:

Vision

The City of Sarasota Cultural Exhibit promotes the health, prosperity, and welfare of the citizens of Sarasota; and strives to represent and establish the distinctive elements of the city’s cultural, social, economic, and architectural heritage as a benefit to the community.

Exhibit Rotation

Each exhibit is on display at City Hall for one year, with a six-month rotation for new pieces. The previous exhibit at City Hall focused on Sarasota's circus heritage and the Sarasota Colony Artists, which have now been relocated throughout City Hall and the SRQ Media Studio in the City Hall Annex building.
