Debbie Trice earned a BA from New College at Hofstra University (NY) and an MBA from Stern Graduate School of Business Administration at New York University. She participated in formal Continuing Education at UCLA Extension (CA) focused on journalism, writing and publishing. Debbie continues to pursue Lifelong Learning (e.g., at OLLI, edX) through courses in local history, women's history, and architecture.
Experience: Debbie’s tenure as President of the Rosemary District Association (RDA) is evidence of the skills she would bring to the City Commission. Creative problem-solving was an integral part of her career in marketing and management at IBM. A business mind-set developed while earning an MBA and launching two entrepreneurial ventures prompts her to approach city government in a fiscally-responsible manner and to understand the needs of local businesses. Debbie’s unique perspective and appreciation for diversity grew out of a lifetime of community service to groups as diverse as the NAACP, AAUW, Girls Inc., First Congregational Church, United Way and RDA and through her lived experience. One size does NOT fit all. As City Commissioner, Debbie would use those skills to represent ALL of Sarasota’s residents and address needs that have been long ignored, while preserving the quality of life that makes Sarasota one of the “Best in the US.”
