City Commission Special Attorney Client Meeting
Notice is given that a Special Meeting of the City Commission shall be held commencing at 5:00 p.m., in the City Commission Chambers, City Hall, 1565 First Street, Sarasota, Florida, to recess into an Attorney-Client session in accordance with Section 286.011(8), Florida Statutes (2018), to reconvene into the Special Meeting to consider any action to be taken regarding the pending litigation referenced below and to discuss any other matters that may come before the Body. Pursuant to a request by the City Attorney, the Commission will meet in the Attorney-Client session for the purpose of discussing settlement negotiations and strategy related to litigation expenditures in the matter of Sandra Mathis v. City of Sarasota, Case No. 2019 CA 000085 NC, Circuit Court for Twelfth Judicial Circuit in and for, Sarasota County, Florida, Civil Division. The following individuals are expected to attend the Attorney-Client session: Mayor Jen Ahearn-Koch, Vice Mayor Shelli Freeland Eddie, and Commissioners Liz Alpert, Hagen Brody, and Willie Charles Shaw, City Manager Thomas Barwin, City Attorney Robert M. Fournier, Assistant City Attorney Joseph C. Mladinich, and a Certified Court Reporter. Following the Attorney-Client session, the City Commission will reconvene back to the Special Meeting.
